You can download simon from http://sourceforge.net/projects/speech2text/ .

To run the setup, you just have to double.click the downloaded setup-file and follow the instructions of the installation-wizard.

The HTK-Toolkit comiles the speechmodel. To use it, you have to register at http://htk.eng.cam.ac.uk/register.shtml. After retreiving a username and a password, you can download the binaries from http://htk.eng.cam.ac.uk/ftp/software/htk-3.3-windows-binary.zip.

(Note: This pakage contains only windows binaries. To use the HTK-Toolkit under GNU/Linux take a look at http://www.cyber-byte.at/wiki/index.php/Installation#Linux).

The files, contained in „htk-3.3-windows-binary.zip“, should be unzipped at the "/bin"-Folder in the installationfolder (Usually: „C:\Program Files\simon 0.2\“).

Start simon and ksimond through the Startmenu.

Now you should have a white oval in the systemarea of the taskbar. Click on the symbol to oopen the configuration of ksimond.

Change to the Tab "Users", click on "Add" and choose an random username and password. If the button is inactive, proof the installation of the paket libqt4-sql-sqlite.

You can close the dialog.

Now open simon. If you have closed simon before, you will find a symbol left to the clock at the systemtray. The symbol ist the same as used on the website or the wiki. Connect to simond with clicking the "Connect"-Button. Enter the same username/password combination you have entered before in ksimond and choose "Save Password" if you don't want to enter it every time you connect.

Now simon is ready to use.
